Android Central Question

I have a problem of an unresponsive touch screen on my Huawei Honor Holly smartphone. The problem was first noticed right after I bought the phone but it's gotten worse. After the screen is off and I wake it to input the pin to unlock, the touchscreen freezes after 3 seconds. I have to turn the screen off and on and try again for the screen to respond again, and after charging the phone and leaving it plugged in for a long time, the touch screen freezes the same way and is not fixed even after I turn screen off and on. When I unplug the charger, the screen responds again, then freezes after 5 seconds. I plug it back in, the screen responds. The home and menu buttons respond though. I Installed antivirus and it found and removed 6 malware programs but the problem did not go away immediately, I also pressed on the phone all over the screen, and since then the touch screen is responding now. But I am still skeptical. Should I send the phone for repairs ? And what could the problem be?

It works in safe mode, but it's working now anyway so I can't diagnose the problem. I can't make it not work again.
Update:It went unresponsive again after long charging with headphones plugged in and audio player playing for a long time. I unplugged and it responds again.

If Safe Mode doesn't do anything, then I'd wonder about some kind of hardware issue -- perhaps a loose digitizer connection that gets disrupted by certain pressure from the headphone jack?

It's a hassle, but keep using it in Safe Mode for a while longer to make sure the problem isn't occurring. If you can reasonably confirm that the problem goes away in Safe Mode, that means some app you installed is causing the problem. Then the tedious part is to uninstall apps one by one (in normal mode) until the problem no longer occurs (unless you already have some suspicions of which app may be the culprit).
