An Unexpected error message keeps popping up on Android A7 2018 since last update

[Android Central Question]

This:
Unexpected error. Closing application. Attempt to invoke virtual method 'org.jivesoftware.smack.AbstractXMPPConnection org.jivesoftware.smack.tcp.XMPPTCPConnection.connect()' on a null object reference

It goes away after some time for no reason? Then starts popping up again . This started when I updated the phone software a few days ago

An android message keeps appearing on my screen nonstop popping constantly

The message says: Unexpected error. Closing application.Attempt to invoke virtual method 'org.jivesoftware.smack.AbstractXMPPConnection org.jivesoftware.smack.AbstractXMPPConnection.connect()' on a null object reference

I have no apps installed from 'jivesoftware'

It was an offical system update. I don't have any apps from Jive Software installed!

Hmm, not sure what the odd message was all about, then. Try wiping the cache partition: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-galaxy-a7-2018/wipe-cache/

I looked into this a little more. Smack is an API related to messaging, so it might be an error related to one of your apps that has some kind of messaging option. https://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/smack/
