Android Central Question

Trying to download an app on my phone from Google Play, wife is able to download and install with the same phone (Samsung Galaxy S9,) but on mine it downloads but won't install. Instead I get the "Can't Install App, Try again and if it still doesnt work..." message. Tried various things, including clearing cache and data on Google Play, Google Play Services, & Download Manager, wiped the cache partition, as well as disconnected/reconnected my Google account and rebooting numerous times to no avail. Its only this one app I'm having issues with, others still download and install normally. Oh - and I noticed if I login to Google Play from my laptop and try to install to my phone from there it says no device available as its already installed on my phone. Help please? :)

Welcome to the forums. Which app is giving you problems? Have you installed it previously or in a different device? Do you have any other app installed that was created by the same developers? Some times apps leave residual files after uninstalling that create a conflict when you try to download it again.

It's OceanCompass by Global Experience Innovators (part of Carnival Corporation.) They have 4 other apps that installed with no issues, and was able to install on my tablet as well as my wife's phone with no issues. Haven't been able to install successfully yet on my S9.

I searched that app in the Play Store and most reviews are very negative. It seems like a really bad app, filled with bugs and all kind of problems.

Heh - the people I know who have used it actually had positive reviews of it. Reviews on other forums of the app come mostly stem from issues with the medallion itself (as in it's new technology only on a few ships, and as they roll out to new ships they are working out the bugs with the implementation on each ship) to those who don't understand the medallion at all.

If your set on having this app , maybe try looking for APK file of it and download that way ?

Actually after I initially posted the question I did just that. Downloaded the APK file and tried to install, after a few seconds got a screen saying "App not installed." Not sure what the issue is here....

Are you downloading via wifi or mobile data?

If it's not too big a file, try using the other method (i.e. if this isn't downloading/installing by wifi use mobile date or vice versa). That is if you don't mind using the mobile data to try.

It shouldn't matter but one time I tried using mobile data when I had the exact same issue and it worked. I always download via wifi but this time it wouldn't work so I tried everything else I could think of

It could be that but some reviews report constant crashings. Anyway, you could try uninstalling the rest of the apps by the same devs and try again. Just remember to force stop and delete data for each app before hitting the uninstall button. This way you make sure no file is left behind.

If tube517 suggestion doesn't work , can also reset app preference by going into settings>apps>tap 3 Dots upper right corner, scroll down to reset app preference
Maybe there's a restriction that's not not allowing it.Screenshot_20190728-003154_Settings.jpeg

Beginning to think maybe it's just cursed :) Tried changing from wifi to bobile data, as well as resetting preferences - all to no avail. Maybe it's time to throw in the towel on this one!

Yeah , only other thing factory reset , you have to determine if it's worth it.
