Android Central Question

I am having an issue with my mobile hotspot with Verizon. Getting an authentication error when trying to connect. It has worked before on my S8. Now not working on my new S9. I contacted Verizon they put me through some test and also replaced my phone with a new one and I am having the same issue. A support ticket has been issued and they say this is an ongoing issue with Samsung devices within the past 2 weeks. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be clear -- you're saying that when you turn on the mobile hotspot on your S9, your other devices (e.g., laptop or tablet) can't connect successfully to it?

I'm having the same issue on an S10+. The issue was addressed in store and tickets were opened but eventually was told its a OS issue that will have to be fixed by Android and an update will be sent out. It's been almost a month that I haven't been able to use my Hotspot. Because of this I had to purchase a Jetpack. Very frustrating.

Same issue with the Note 10+. I just remembered seeing "tethering hardware acceleration" in the developer options, turn it off. Everything seems to be working fine again.
The developer options can be accessed by repeatedly tapping "Build number", within "Software information", within "About phone" in the settings menu.

@scolvin, my wife also has a new Note 10+ and is getting the same error when attempting to invoke the Mobile Hotspot feature. However, disabling the "tethering hardware acceleration" feature in Developer options did not resolve the issue

Welcome to Android Central! Who's your carrier? Have you checked with them? Are you certain that your wireless plan includes hotspot functionality?
