I recently downloaded an app that allows me to force rotation, mostly so I can get reverse portrait mode which I use a lot. It really should just be a native function of the phone, but anyways! Problem is, I cant figure out how to turn the app off when I dont want it and I have definitely noticed a difference in battery performance since I started using it. I dont want to have to go into my app settings menu to toggle 'allow to run in background' every time I want to use it, which is pretty frequently. I just want to be able to turn it off when I don't want reverse portrait anymore. I figured out how to turn them off through developer mode which works well enough. Any more straight forward methods?

The app doesn't have its own toggle? Or even if you toggle the rotation off, it still seems to use battery?

There's no native way to disable an app that you install -- you can only uninstall it (disabling is for preinstalled apps that can't be uninstalled). You could try an app like Greenify, which might let you "hibernate" the app.

    Which phone you have ?
If Google phone on Android 10 you can pause apps with a long press .
Since Android 9 all Android have a little icon that appears on the bottom to tap to rotate
