Which phone ? And keyboard you using.

Welcome to Android Central! If you're not using a keyboard that has an enhanced clipboard that allows you to save multiple items (like Gboard or the keyboard on certain older Samsung and LG phones), then the clipboard can only hold one item at a time. You can find out what's in the clipboard by long-pressing any text field and then tapping Paste.
