Android Central Question

yesterday when i cane back from lunch and tried to put in my fingerprint on my phone it kept say please try later and when i went to my settings and tried to click on the place where u put in fingerprints it kept saying its not working at this time and if this message message keeps showing up restart ur phone so i restarted my phone many times and it still wont work also even when i cleared my cache and data it still wont work. my phone is a j5pro

Does it work in safe mode? The manufacturer may also want to have you reset the device. If it doesn't work in either of those cases it's probably that the hardware stopped working and the device would need to be replaced.

There are different possibilities, depending on the type of fingerprint sensor. We need to know which phone you have. (So if you want help, please join, then come back here and tell us. [I did 4 returns to Google for what both I and they thought was a bad fingerprint sensor - on the original phone and on the 4 replacements. It wasn't.])

Missed that.

With a Samsung, that depends on where you are - they have local authorized repair centers. In the US, it's uBreakiFix, in India, Samsung has 3 repair shops, in other countries, it's other places. Since the phone is out of warranty, if safe mode doesn't fix the problem*, you'll have to pay for the repair, which will probably mean at least a new home button (which isn't terribly expensive), but it might also need a new motherboard (which is - and it wouldn't pay to repair it if it needed a new one). You can find new ones for USD125 or less on eBay. (Or as much as USD225 at a dealer in India).
