Why is my screen color not right

[Android Central Question]

My screen is lighter on the top part and if I try to adjust the brightness it just stays the same but the bottom is fine. Could it be because it has gotten really hot a few times or something. When I was using it it wasn't hot but all of a sudden it was like this.

Welcome to Android Central! If it doesn't show up in a screenshot, that pretty much confirms a hardware issue with the screen itself.
