Android Central Question

Hello, I've heard alot that charging your phone and using it at the same is bad for your phone, specifically the battery, is this true? If yes, what is the logic behind this? Is it the battery temperature?

Games create heat and are generally played for a long time. Add a charger which creates more heat and your battery won't last long. Light usage makes little difference except lengthen charging time

This article covers maximizing battery life in general, but does include info on how temperature affects it.

Long story short, yes, the added heat from use while charging can harm a battery. I've actually gone so far as to move away from Quick Charge for most of my charging. I've seen 10-15° F differences between traditional charging and Quick Charge. Now I only quick charge when I need an unexpected quick boost.

Welcome to Android Central! I'd say it puts a bit more of a tax on the battery, because it's already warming up from charging and then being further pressured by the added usage.

But if you're just sending a text or checking something quickly, I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Depends on the phone as well. OnePlus(and a few others) designed their charging system to leave more heat in the charger. Heat being the biggest issue, this alleviates a good chunk of the issue.

So depending on the phone and how it is designed, it could go from a non issue to pretty bad for the battery.
