So i have been using Ringke Monster Mount for most of the phones i owned until the ROGPHONE 2 became my phone. The phone is huge and it couldnt fit into my Ringke Monster Mount. Even with no case it barely makes it in. Thus i bought IOttie Air Vent mount. It does a great job(unless youre using the phone naked then it might literally slip away).

So my question is, as its an Air Vent mount, cold air is constantly being blown to my phone and whenever i reach my destination Amper and Armoury shows 17 degrees to 20 degrees. And when i take my phone out of the car, condensation happens. I never worried about my previous phones as they had IP67 or IP68 rating. But the ROGPHONE 2 doesnt have rating. So is it dangerous? Or should i cover the vents up?

This is just my personal opinion with a touch of fact thrown in. Others may have had different experiences and may disagree with me but here's a few things to consider.

First air vent holders are about the roughest thing you can do to your device without physically abusing it. Look at your owner's manual, extreme cold and extreme heat are very bad for your device. Chilling your battery over and over again or heating it over and over again will shorten the battery's life significantly, and overheating the battery can cause it to leak or explode. Look at the little warning labels in the owner's manual. Now for the superficial things... They don't usually secure to the vent very well, which means that they can fall off, which means that your phone will be dropped. I don't know about you but I would rather not subject my phone to any trauma. Just me, just saying. Your device blocks the air flow, Ok so I have 3 other vents so what, well now you have an unusable vent. So on cold days your hand is cold until the whole car, and your phone, heat up. On warm days, that nice cool air you're looking forward to doesn't make it to your face and neck. The weight of the device when hitting bumps, unless you live in a part of the world where the streets are perfectly paved and never, ever have potholes, dips or debris, can break the slats of the vent. Then not only does your phone take a fall but your vent doesn't direct air anymore, but we don't care about that because we were just blocking it anyway.

I didnt expect such a long reply. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. The road here is perfect. Perfect for testing out the grip of the holder/magnets. Potholes? Daily stuff. Hahaha.

Okay so back to the topic, i kinda stuffed my ac vents with cushion i got from the Pelican hardcase. And so far, no condensation at all. Temperature stays around 25 to 30.

And so far, the only mount which failed on me is the Adonit Auto Wireless Charger. The clamps to the vent broke. But i dont blame Adonit. I blame the road here.

People in Indonesia mostly use windshield holders or magnetic holders.

Windshield holders... The suction cup usually gets loose, no matter how clean the surface is.

Magnetic holders... The last time i used the magnetic holder for my Xiaomi Mi8.... It fell... So im kinda the grip kind of guy... Just more trustworthy...

Btw, you should check IOttie Air Vent mount out. Its tight as hell...

Hahaha, see I told the weight would be too much. Also it's nice to see someplace in the world use some of that hard earned tax money to take of the roads. Lol. Meanwhile, I don't know what 25 to 30 C is in F but it sounds hot... I use the suction cup style and here the temps go up and down. Right here in Ohio USA the joke is we can see all 4 seasons in 24 hours. It's a joke but it is also true. Meanwhile, I've never tried the magnet. My issue is that you have to stick something to your phone to use it and I'm not a big fan of added bulk, or anything. I almost considered one of those pop-sockets but thought better of it. It seems like you have it pretty well figured out, with the foam and all, so all I can say is best wishes.

Couldn't you have accomplished the same by just moving that slider below the vent? On my vehicle, the vent can be closed off without impacting the slats a vent clip would "secure" to.

I agree with @VidJunky though, I don't trust one of those vents to hold a mount and my Pixel 2 XL, I use a windshield mount from iOttie. I don't often use the upper vents in the winter, sticking mainly to the floor vents for heat, but in the summer I need all hands on deck for the dash A/C vents. Actually, I even close off the 2 passenger side vents (when I don't have a passenger) to direct more airflow to my vents.

So you mean its the vents which might break? Or the mount? Im confused... The Windshield IOttie mount is nice. But i had trouble making them stay... Unless its the Ringke Monster mount.

So Ohio has 4 seasons in 24 hours? Hahaha. Yeah i like my phone in a mount. But at times it blocks my view. As the phone is taller than my previous phones. Will try to get the IOttie Windshield Mount. Because there's a lot of fakes here...

We're talking about the car vent slats breaking under the weight/forces from the mount and phone.

The one I have sticks like a Gecko. Even once the suction is released I need to peel the suction cup off the glass. I have this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6732269

Yep, just last year it froze one evening, started as freezing rain with ice on the roads and windshields, then sometime over night it started warming up and by dinner time it was mid 50 F. This year we haven't had any winier. Lol. As you said before though, back on topic.

My windshield mount is only 3.5" to 4", what's that about 10 - 12cm? But it has a long neck, and my car's layout may be different, but that puts the phone right out to the edge of my dash. So it really doesn't block anything for me. I've seen some with shorter necks but I prefer to be able to reach it if need be. Plus I usually find them with ratcheting clamps that open pretty wide. I also get the cheapest one I can find which means I've gone thru a few. I understand your mention of them coming off but I rarely have issues. Rarely, not never, and ironically it usually seems to be weather related. Hahaha.

I don't like glass suction holders as it’s hard to reach the smartphone. Holders for ventilation grilles are easy to install, hold well and do not leave marks on the dashboard. The opinion that they are useless indicates that the person just came across not the greatest model or the holder didn’t fit the grille properly. The thickness of the slats varies but there are some specific models which nearly always fit. Here you can find some examples:
