I literally just opened my nook tablet my wife got me. I hear you only have 1gb to put files on it. This is for media/books/games on a deployment. I am bout to buy a 32,8,8gb cards from b buy. Is it easy to do and is it easy to revert back to stock if need be? I have a nexus s 4g and I am good at rooting and unrooting so thats not the issue. Thanks

Personally, the biggest advantage is not being limited to B&N's pitiful selection of apps and having access to the full Android Marketplace and being able to install whatever you like.

As far as disadvantages, I honestly can't think of a single one.

And to answer your question, yes, it is relatively simple to root the NT and it is very easy to revert a rooted NT back to stock condition.

You really need to checkout the xda-developers forums for details on rooting.
