kyocera hydro elite... battery drains faster now than it did when new 1 yr. why?

Phone purchased a year ago. At first, battery would easily last 24 hrs. Now, it's running down in 12. Why? Any suggestions?

Charge overnight.... 8 hrs.... get a green light.
Today, it just sat on standby... no calls, messages, apps, etc.
Battery ran out by 4pm.

This only started recently... past month or so. Started out not as bad and has become worse with time.
I mostly use it for the phone. I use apps on occasion, but not daily.

Any ideas?
