Any one of the higher end android phone will do. Most have quad core these days.

Go with the Nexus 5.

Or anything powered by Tegra 3 or 4 if you want some Tegra exclusive/optimized games.

Any android phone released in the past year is usually pretty safe. (Galaxy note 3, nexus 5, HTC one,) moto x is decent not the best but it's competent. If your planning on doing a lot of gaming I would make sure the phone you choose has a big battery as gaming can take quite a heavy toll on battery life.
