Need Help with Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2

My son got his Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 wet. It has been dried out for a while now and will work perfectly if only the task manager would stop popping up every couple of seconds. His home button is not stuck, as it depresses and makes a click sound so I know that it is working. He can't go to any applications because the task manager keeps taking over. Is there some way to fix this?
