Problems connecting to wifi, says wifi null?

Recently my samsung skyrocket started having problems connecting to my wifi, it keeps trying to connect then it all the available networks drop off, and it starts scanning again. Sometimes it will say wifi null. Not sure why this randomly started, nothing changed. I tried setting the mode to 2.4 only and tried updating the phone, but nothing worked.

Difficult to diagnose without having the phone. If you're in the US, go to a Best Buy and ask where the Samsung people are. (They have a desk in most stores, somewhere in the cellphone area.) NOT the Geek Squad - Samsung has their own people. Best Buy has store-wide wifi, so they have everything they need (including the ability to reflash your phone) to diagnose (and maybe fix) the problem.

Reset the wifi router and see if that helps. Not sure why this issue would have started happening without a cause.

It's def not the router. I did some research and when I remove the sim card I can connect to wifi no problems, as soon as I put it back in and restart the phone I can't connect anymore. I have no idea, can't find much more info on the internet.

I'm not sure what the issue could be. There shouldn't be a reason why the sim card is interfering with wifi.

Have had the same problem. Galaxy s2 skyrocket, worked great on any network until 2 months ago. Suddenly won't connect to wifi. Not a router problem (wife's s3 and daughters nexus work as good as ever). Have tried all the fixes in this forum that I can find, but none work (although taking the Sim card out allows it to connect). HOWEVER, finally found a "fix". Turn off mobile network and it instantly connects to wifi. Turn it back on and it won't connect to wifi. Having to manually switch between wifi and mobile will be annoying, but it proves that it is NOT a router issue, as seems to be the most popular belief

Welcome to Android Central! I'm glad you were able to figure out a solution to your issue, but as you can imagine, wifi connectivity problems can be due to lots of different reasons. The router is often the cause, but not always. It's a little puzzling why your phone's wifi wouldn't work until you turned off mobile data. I have heard of some phones favoring mobile data over wifi connections (although it's supposed to be the other way around), so if your mobile data connection was poor, maybe it seemed like the connection was dead until you turned off mobile data, allowing wifi to take over.
