I am using the Samsung email app for work. I use gmail on my phone and don't want to use a second gmail profile for work (long story)

Anyway, the Samsung email app works great except it only auto syncs the inbox. All the emails that are filtered to folders (like my boss and several employees) never get synced unless I go to their folder and manually sync that folder.

I set up the IMAP and filtering to folders with outlook on my desktop. On my desktop there is an unread email options so i know all new messages that come in whether they are in a folder or in the inbox, plus all the folders stay in sync with new messages as they come in.

What I would like to happen is on sync, all folders get synced so that I know I have a new email in one of the folders that is not the inbox.

The only solution I can think of is to set it up as copy to folders which would leave a copy in my inbox along with a saved copy in the person's folder. This way, I would know I have a new message because the inbox folder syncs. But then I would need to delete a lot of inbox message so I don't have two copies...

There has to be away for the Samsung email app to sync all folders and not just the inbox.

Anyone use the Samsung email app out there with IMAP?

Good question. I don't think you can. There may be an email app that will. You can try installing various email apps - MyMail, K9 Email, etc. - and see if any of them can.

I am thinking the best solution is to set filters to copy to folders rather then move from the inbox and delete the messages in the inbox after I read them. The danger is I delete something in the inbox that did not or was not set up to filter to a folder.

It would be nice if some of these 3rd party apps had a web version so I could check my emails on the laptop on the road on a different computer.

I think Gmail and the Outlook app are the only ones that have that. Outlook.com is a mess when it comes to trying to use IMAP so that is out. I'll see what AuquaMail can do.

To check all your email accounts in one application using a laptop or PC, just use a regular desktop email client. I highly recommend and use Thunderbird.

If you want to have certain emails automatically filtered and sent to folders rather than the inbox, you can setup Gmail to do that by going to Gmail Settings using a browser.

What's the problem with outlook.com and IMAP?

With outlook, I am not alerted when new message come in that are filtered direct to folders. ie my bosses email are moved to his folder. Another problem I is I get two copies of every message. I gave up with trying to figure out what is going on there.

Testing Auqua on my phone now.

yes thunderbird would work on my laptop but if I wanted to access my email from some other computer I can't do it.

Well, anyway email applications like K9, AquaMail or Mailbox can't provide webmail even if they wanted to. Webmail must be provided by email service providers, such as Gmail, Yahoo, Comcast, Hotmail, whatever.

However, if you have all your email forwarded to one of your webmail accounts (Gmail would probably a best) then you could handle all your email at once and only have to login to one site, particularly handy if you're using "some other computer".

Thanks. AuquaMail seems real good. Lots of features. It seems the 'smart folder' will bring all the new messages buried in the folders to one page my phone, I think it may even notify me of new messages in the smart folder. So this is exactly what I need.
