Try going in to your settings, applications manager, all app, find the Play Store app and clear the data. Try to download apps again.

Which ASUS device do you have? If it's a phone, does it occur on both wi-fi and mobile data? Go to Settings>Apps>All, select Google Play Store, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager. Now try again.

If that doesn't work, then go to Settings>Accounts, remove your Google account completely, then add it back.
