I realize this may vary slightly depending on which android device you are using, but
generally, when an App on your device asks your device for a GPS where does your device go to get the GPS?
Does it default to hardware inside the device?
Does it go to the device’s service provider?
Could it be provided by another App also on the device?

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Its based on satellite data. The phone has a GPS receiver and can also use wifi/data towers to help in location. If you want to learn about GPS read THIS
