Newly installed app icons placed on last page, even though previous pages have empty slots.

Until recently the icons of newly installed apps were placed on the first possible spot (f.e. page 1). For a few days now, all new icons are placed on the last page, new pages are automatically created by the installation processes.....even though there is lots of empty icon spots on the previous pages.

Is that an issue from a recent operation system update or is it a setting that was somehow changed?

I have a Galaxy S6 and the newest version of the operation system is installed.

Welcome to Android Central! I remember seeing this in another thread -- there, it was determined that the system seems to look at the lower right hand part of the homescreen to see if there is a spot available. If that area is filled (even if there are empty spots above it), it goes to the next homescreen. Is that the case on your phone?
