I am in the market for my first smartphone. I am a Verizon customer and am very interested in the Droid, although I have also considered the S2. I would like to buy a phone that will work in Europe as well as here in the USA. I know that there are BBs that have GSM capability through VZW, but that the Droid is CDMA only.
Are there any rumors about a future Android device that will work on both CDMA and GSM? What obstacles are there to licensing or building such a phone? I am surprised that VZW didn't build that capability into the Droid. It would have made my choice a definite no-brainer.
