Any other alternatives to the OnePlus 5T?

Hi everyone, trying to get some help here deciding for a phone for my wife, she has been an iPhone user for many years and with the recent iOS 11 issues giving her 6S Plus, shes finally convinced on going to Android.

I have suggested the OnePlus 5T since its as Vanila android as she can have with the exception of the Pixel line up which she is not a fan of.

Trying to see other alternatives in terms of price range and performance that can match the OP5T that'll be under the $800 range and so far the OP5T is the best, although I have suggested the Mate 10 since I have a Mate 9 and have fairly positive experience with it but since the Huawei & AT&T deal was cut, that was out of the question, unless shes willing to pay full price for it. The Honor V10 looks good on paper but I will wait on it as well, LG V30 is a maybe. She was also looking at the S8 as another alternative as well. Looking forward for your guy's suggestions. Well, if you don't want to pay up front the OP5 won't work either, as you can only buy directly from them, and they don't seem to have financing.

Motorola may be a decent choice, and some do their models have financing. Also, some stores like BestBuy have financing plans, so that's another avenue to look at.

Sorry didn't clarify it, she can spend up to $800, preferably not but if the phone is worth it to her she'll spend the cash on it

Give the LG V30 a good look, it's a fantastic device, very underrated.

I currently have a Huawei Mate10 Pro on review and it's fantastic to, incredibly fast and smooth, Battery life is phenomenal.

I'd actually suggest that if she does not mind paying full price, then going for a Mate10 Pro, but if she does mind, look at the LG V30 and HTC U11+

Since your wife is coming off of iOS, I'd recommend the 5T as its close-to-stock experience will make the transition easier.

However, I've also heard that Motorola is somewhat to stock as well; so the Moto Z2 Play or Z2 Force are solid options as well, IMO.

Do you like Huawei's phone? I highly recommend it to your wife as I am using Mate 9 which is really a good phone I've used ever. It has an easy to use interface and system. Then most attractive point is its double rear cameras, and if your wife loves taking self-portraits, it's also a good choice. But the only drawback I think it is too heavy for a girl. Anyway, I got accustomed to it.:-[

The Mate 9 is a good option and is also at a less expensive price point because of its successor. Good idea!

Here's an odd recommendation.

The Essential Phone.

It has gotten a ton of updates and it's a better phone than it was at launch, but it's still not entirely perfect. The software gremlins are more-or-less sorted but some still remain and while the camera app has improved, you will still need the Google Camera HDR+ port in order to get good images out of it.

But if hardware design is your thing, it's an exquisite piece of tech.

It is a beautiful phone.

That said, I suspect it’s still waaaay too flaky and quirky for someone coming from iOS, even with the improvements.

As a user of both Apple and Essential, DO NOT get her an essential phone. She will never sleep with you again when she realizes you gave her a worse camera, buggy software, and uh, very poor vibration motors...

Assuming you are a man, that is an incredibly sexist thing to say. My wife uses the Note 8, 5 grams heavier than your Mate 9, and has no issues with the weight.

Anyhow, to the op. For what it's worth, my wife came from an iPhone 6+, and as I mentioned above she decided on the Note 8. She really likes it a lot and is happy with the choice. What she likes most about it is the pen, the camera, and the size (physical size to screen size ratio). She also likes the customization of Android. She always said that didn't matter to her, but now that she has it, she loves all the customization options to make it her own.

As an iphone user, I’m interested in the pixel 2 non XL and Samsung S7 or note 8, OLED screens and fast updates is great, front facing speakers is good, micro SD support is good but management is a chore, I have all my backups from nova prime and some android apps on it I think. For Samsung, pay and note features are intriguing.

Mostly leaning for pixel 2 for the fast update and good portrait mode. I’ve also considered HTC 10 and G6.

Samsung, i am using iPhone and my boyfriend is using Samsung,and he can switch Samsung to iPhone ,This is better than any other Android device ,

i was actually going to recommend the essential phone. as long as you don't mind sideloading the pixel camera, this phone has probably aged best of all the devices I've ever had regardless of os ( in terms of updates, hardware/design/craftsmanship, and fun to use - this last one being a dig on iOS because iOS gets boring after a while)

My take is still the same for the most part. I had side loaded the Pixel camera on mine and it did help somewhat. But I still had bad reception, terrible Bluetooth, buggy software, and build quality issues. Granted, it could have been a bad unit so take my experience with a grain of salt. At this point you might as well wait for One Plus 6.

I use the Mate 9, and yet(outside of 10 pro and P20 Pro) have seen a phone that can touch it in the battery department on my use, this phone is fast, big, phenomenal battery and great cameras, you can never go wrong with Mate 9 and upwards.

I too agree that Huawei products are excellent to use and have good battery life.
