Is there a way to have my contacts show there facebook profile picture like my old gingerbread did? I liked how my old phone synced these over but my nexus only seems to show pictures of people that have a g+ acct but it doesn't show pictures of people with facebook accts when I'm texting someone back or something.

Am I doing something wrong? Can I download something? How to fix this? Please halp.

Thanks. How long does it take to sync normally? I chose to 'import all' and i only have 300 friends and its been syncing for over 10 minutes.

The latest versions of Android (since the latest updates of 2.3, actually) don't sync with Facebook. It basically comes down to Facbeook not playing nice with Google over the usage of user data, so until Facebook decides to follow the rules, you're stuck using a 3rd party app for it.

I believe the first sync takes a little longer but it's short after that. You don't even have to have the app open to sync. Did it work for you?

Yea it worked. It didnt link them all though. Maybe i should try again and change the match settings to 'strong' so it will guess more, otherwise im stuck syncing them one by one.

Guys,
This is the best app I have found for syncing FB stuff. Haxsync is too buggy and doesn't give you a choice of photo size to sync.

As for the sync process creating multiple contacts, that's the way that Android works. The key is to make sure there is some matching information on both the FB contact and your phone contact and it will auto match them. The app also has a feature to match on Facebook ID. So if you want to never have an issue again, you could put your contacts Facebook ID in the notes of the phone contacts and your good to go.

**EDIT**
To expand on the above about the multiple contacts. Every time you add an account that uses the SNS (Social Network Sync) API it will add a separate contact for each one it syncs. So if you are a heavy social network user, you will have Google+, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and maybe some others. If the people app in Android finds information to join the contacts together it will do it automatically. First&Last name match, email, phone will all auto join contacts together. So for the best result make sure you have details that Facebook use to identify people in the contact already and the work will be done for you.

I am really strict about my contact data because my primary contacts are made in my corporate Office365 (Exchange) account and then synced to my Google contacts using Go Contact Sync Mod (Google it!)

A massively interesting fact came out of a recent run-in with a friend and his iPhone. He was running iOS 6 and had somehow denied Facebook access to his photos, so as a solution I decided to remove the Facebook app and turn off the built-in features iOS 6 has with Facebook, and then reinstall and restore from scratch.

When I deleted his account from Settings, it asked me if I would like to delete the synced data from Facebook, OR KEEP IT on the phone.

So basically you can keep the data if you have an iPhone, but not if you're on Android. Not cool, Facebook.

Friendcaster and its Pro version syncs HD photos and merges them automatically. Simpler than all these other suggestions. Been using it for a year now. Works perfectly. Just an alternate Facebook application.

So not sure if I'm doing something wrong or I just won't be able to get my FB contact pics under my Contacts. Here's what I have/want to do:

I have about 70 phone Contacts currently synch'ed from my Google Contacts the day I turned on my Nexus 4. Some of these people are my FB friends, some not (ie. businesses/etc). Like the OP posted, all of the photos under my Contacts are blank.
I decided to download Friendcaster and then added that Account to synch to my Contacts. Waa la, all the FB pics are there under my Contacts! However, now my contact list grew to 350 Contacts because it synch'ed ALL of my FB friends. Hells no! So when I go back to 'Contacts to Synch' and de-select Friendcaster, then I'm back to my 70 phone contacts and NO FB pictures.

So if I want my "real" phone Contacts to have FB pics, I have to synch ALL of my FB contacts?? Or is because the phone contacts that I do call are also on FB have short names (ie. ChrisJ but on FB their name is Chris Johnson?). I thought this might be case because when I did have all 300+FB contacts, some were double, like 'ChrisJ' and then 'Chris Johnson'. UGGG!!! Why is this so freakin hard?!?1? LOL

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

from your People Apps contact list, click the menu (three dots) and select "Contacts to Display" and you can either choose "All Contacts" or a specific account you have signed into on your phone, they also have a "Customize" option that'll allow you to select more specifically. Also in Friendcaster (I think) you can tell it to only sync current contacts vs all. what this does is it'll look for matches and only sync those. For contacts like you were saying they have short names etc on Facebook you just have to edit your phone contact and from the menu chose "join" and then it lets you browse all you FB contacts and you can manually find them. This same method works with the Official FB app as well. The real issue here is that Google and Facebook had a falling out back in the Nexus S days where Google didn't agree with Facebook's sketchy hold on users data so they stopped playing nice with each other in that respect.

Also for a good (maybe the best) contact sync app check out https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...=ro.weednet.contactssync&hl=en&token=4EWWxq-q this has worked great for me.

P.S.
I'd stop, and suggest EVERYONE do this, stop saving contacts to your phone, stop using Backup assistant and just put ALL your contacts in GMail. It live updates when contacts are edited either on phone or desktop and auto syncs so you never have to worry about your contacts when you switch phones. A easy way you can do this is you can export your phone contacts to a file (in contacts app), copy that to your computer and import that file into you GMail contacts.

Also, OEM UI's handle Facebook syncing different, my directions are for real/stock Android (Nexus devices) but they can be carried over or things will be similar enough to figure out.

I followed the instructions on how to set up a cardDAV account from the google website http://support.google.com/mail/bin/a...&answer=275307. Everything went fine, except when I try to create a new contact. I have 281 contacts on my iCloud account, and when i switch to google it say i have 290. When i check mark both accounts i have 298.
So my first question is, when I set up carddav, why do i have extra contacts on Google if carDAV works smoothly with iOS?

If I modify anything in iCloud, it gets sync'd to google. However if I try to add a new contact in Apple Contacts it doesn't show up in google anymore; the reverse is also true.
With my old contacts i see on each entry an iCloud and cardDAV (Linked Contacts). On new entries there is no such link.

In my Apple Contacts preferences, I left the default account as iCloud. If I change it to google per the instructions, then new contacts are added to google, but not added to Apple Contacts.

This new cardDAV approach seems very close, but not exactly what I need. Gmail is my primary email, but Apple Contacts is my primary address book. My devices are all Apple: Macbook, iPad and iPhone 5. iCloud works perfectly between the devices. I want to add google as a "device" to this arrangement, because I got a Nexus 4 that Im trying out, and want to sync back and forth between the two device. Is there any way to accomplish what I am trying to do?

Thanks in advance for the help.
