Question Why didn't my call log and message chat history transfer to my new phone?

I transferred everything from my old android Moto G to a Pixel 3xl and I don't believe I unchecked anything relating to sms or calls, but my call logs and chat history did not transfer to my new phone. My contacts, keep notes history, all apps, and even my old voicemails transferred, but not those things. I will say my storage was low on my old phone (92% used) but I had "backup by google one" checked off and looking back at my old phone, I do still see mb/kb worth of history stored under "SMS & messages" and "Call History". I mention this because I thought maybe I somehow had backup unchecked on my old phone before I started the transfer but that was not the case.

I spent way too much time on chat with Google Fi support and they really had me do was backup data on the new phone. Eventually they said that I should give it 24 hours and the call and chat history will show up but I don't buy it. I set this phone up late last night and it has already been around 14 hours since then. Unless some of the things chat support had me do will make a difference(which I don't think it will) then I doubt it takes any amount of time for those histories to show up.... unless someone here tells me different from their experience.

What could have went wrong during the transfer with this and was there something I should have checked off on the old phone before the transfer that would have made a difference? Could I have unchecked or not selected something during the transfer process on my ne phone? What are my options to get those histories back at this point?

You say chat, do you mean that your messages are RCS chats? It's my understanding that RCS does not transfer. This question on the Google Messages forum confirms this.

As for your call logs, not sure why they might have been affected but how did you do the transfer? I've heard Moto has a transfer tool, not sure about Pixel, but you should also have some options in your Google Backup to save and restore things like your call log.

Hopefully you still have both devices and haven't performed the factory wipe yet and can try an app like, My Backup Pro, from the Play Store. It is a paid app that has a trial period. This app has a lot of in depth features that allow you to backup many different things individually or grouped that can be transferred between devices that share an account.

Let us know what you find.
