I TRULY don't care about CREDIT RATINGS.
Got charged and couldn't be happier! :-D Such a sick phone.
I really hope y'all don't take this so serious you actually reported me and think I live my life based on a movie. I was having fun, simply stating what my evil side wanted to do (but the good side knew better).
@ I_AM_THE_ENTIRE_INTERNET I TRULY don't care about CREDIT RATINGS. That was my point. YES they would end up getting me. However the way they would effect my life I could care less.
@FYourProblems I hope you were joking; otherwise you take this stuff way too serious and have made apple fan boys look good from your statement. Never saw that coming.
How old are you? You do realize that a bad credit rating will affect your ability to buy much of anything, right? Forget about buying a house -- it can keep you from even being able to rent a decent apartment.
Or is just having a nice phone all you care about?

It's not just about "Credit Ratings" it's about Credit History. If you have a "non-payment" for ANY reason on your credit report if you want to live someplace nice they will not rent to you. Unless you are planning on living in the ghetto or with your parents the rest of your life credit history is very important. Credit Ratings are another story.
Then again you are "OG" so I guess you are never planning on leaving "the 'hood"
I'm not advocating his position but the "rest of your life" is overkill. Bad credit items roll off your credit report after 7 years. You can have the worst credit in the world but 7 years later you're a virgin again. Granted, a virgin with no credit history but at least you may be smarter by then and can begin to build a history.
Credit Reports - How Long Do Negative Items Stay on My Credit Report?
It does depend on the type of negative information but here is a breakdown of how long different types of negative information will remain on your credit report:
Late Payments - 7 Years
Bankruptcies for Completed Chapter 13 Bankruptcies - 7 Years
Foreclosures - 7 Years
Collections - Generally, about 7 years, depending on the age of the debt being collected.
Public Records - Generally 7 years, although unpaid tax liens can remain indefinitely.
Yes that's if everything goes "As Planned" I agree after 7 years you'll be fine.
However I've had an instance where even though I paid off the debt the creditor kept listing my debt as being paid every single month. So it looked like (for the better part of 5 years) I always had a debt that was paid off just that month. To this day I still have a problem convincing people that it is an error on my report because some people still pull it up incorrectly. All because I told ATT to cancel my phoneline and I didn't bother to open my letters from them thinking they were "HEY PLEASE COME BACK!" letters not more bills!
Also my point was more to be that if he was making this a habit (IE skipping out on bills every few years or so).
Also if we figure he is 21 (old enough to order his own cell + afford it) that means he'll be 28 by the time he can rent a decent place? I'd say that's a good chunk of life.
If there are errors that you have reported to the credit bureaus that haven't been corrected, you might want to look into collecting fines for FCRA violations. At one point, the penalty was $1000 per violation; that could be money going into your pocket. But I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV.However I've had an instance where even though I paid off the debt the creditor kept listing my debt as being paid every single month.
