Space key stopped autofilling punctuation in text messages

Never mind. I fixed it. Please ignore post.You have to turn off word suggestions. I can't find a way to delete this whole post.


In text messages, it used to be that when you type the Space key, the 'word' suggestions above the keyboard wouldn't be words, they would be . , ! ?

- that is, punctuation characters. Instead i now get word suggestions, which are always useless.

Is there a way to bring the punctuation marks back?

I only just now upgraded downgraded from Jellybean to KitKat, which for me made lots of things worse and not one single thing is better.
