Odd battery performance

For some reason the other day my battery got a complete battering. For some reason it dropped to 35% with only an hour of screen time

But then yesterday I got great performance with nearly 4hrs of screen time

Really not sure why some days I get such bad battery. It seems as though I'm better off looking at the screen all day than leaving it on standby sat on my desk.

On the stock battery graph, it'd be helpful to see the fullscreen graph (by tapping on it), so we can see what the mobile signal strength was like, as well as what wi-fi and awake time were doing.

Well quick update from yesterday. I had actually left my phone at home so it was doing nothing apart from being sat there, receiving stuff

It'd be more helpful to see the stats after most of the charge has been used (i.e., when your battery is down to around 20-30%). Those screenshots show that only 9% of battery has been used so far, so it's hard to make generalizations.

Although it seems safe to say that if you lost only 9% of battery after more than 10 hours of standby, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot wrong with your phone. Mine typically loses more like 2% per hour.

Here's some latest ones from yesterday. Think it's more mobile signal that's killing it. Just seems random that I can play games or something and get a good 4 hour bash out of the screen, yet a full day it can drain with only about an hour or so of screen

Yeah, you're cell signal looks like it's taking a beating. Is there any chance that the problem you're having is environmental? That something could be blocking RF signals from your phone's radio?

Do you live and work in buildings that might be heat shielded? I've read that some heat shielding can mess with rf signals.

Do you get better cell reception at home? at work? outdoors generally? or in specific locations outdoors? It seems like you must be judging by the difference in the Network signal color bars in posts #3 and #6.

I know next to nothing about RFI (some people on these forums must), but you might want to download a free app like Network Signal Info just to get some kind of reading on signal strength in various locations. If nothing else, that might be one way of eliminating one or more conceivable suspects.

Ok a couple more from today. Not much use to start off with and changed to 2G. Signal looks good and although not low, battering compared to other days. Then some more after a bit of reading online

Have you tried using Greenify yet to hibernate apps when you're not using them? You no longer have to be rooted to use some Greenify features.

You also might as well get rid of GSam and any similar apps: as is, they just seem to be supplying you with depressing reports and screen shots to post here. Wakelock Detector might be more useful, but you do have to be rooted to use that.

At least we're only a couple weeks away from the Marshmellow update. With any luck the Doze feature in that will help.

Not sure if this is the culprit. Just checked on my wife's N6 and this process isn't even shown in the battery stat screen. uploadfromtaptalk1443986320055.jpg

It's not the culprit. Whatever's keeping the OS awake is the culprit. You certainly can't disable the phone's OS.

Uninstall Battery Doctor & GSam, and either uninstall or disable Facebook (Fit, too, if it's on your phone) to see if your battery use evens out. Then go after any other apps you don't use enough to justify keeping, just to play safe.

Yep seems odd that my wife's phone doesn't even register this process. Shame I can't check wake locks without root. I've uninstalled the standard Facebook app in preference for tinhat one which I read about earlier and taken the battery apps out. I have already disabled fit as well. Wife doesn't use Facebook and uses go sms rather than default messaging and doesn't use SwiftKey like me.

I might do a reset to see if there are any differences. Even on my N4 I got worse than her. I do still have that phone so might reset that as well and maybe use as a test bed, however it won't have a sim, can still test on WiFi with apps

Bounced my phone and the Android OS entry is now off the list and the only entry is Mobile Standby. Maybe something was stuck
