Nope, still doesn't work for me. I enter everything correctly but still get "couldn't open connection to server." I had no issues setting up any other of my devices (be they IOS or Android), but the Nexus 7 will not connect. Does my IT dept need to do something with the Mobile Device ID itself?

Are you trying to connect through an SSL port (443)? If you also don't connect with SSL then in the setup of the email you should change the port to 80and uncheck the accept all SSL certificates. Hope that helps

one other thing it might be worth doing the following as well just to clear cache

go to settings,apps. mail app. force stop,clear cache,clear data,imput

hopefully e-mail and passwords will all work fine after this is done

yes, it's auto set to 443. I've tried pretty much any and every other iteration/combination possible all to no avail.
Have cleared the cache.
Have rebooted.
Have tried adding the account via both "corporate" and "email" (manual).
Have done what 'Tophies' suggested.
Have tried with/without backslashes, dots/no dots, caps/no caps, checking/unchecking secure connection, etc.
Have even had our IT guy check it, but still nada.

It CAN'T be this hard if my other devices had no problem. Sigh.

holy crap. I'M IN! :D Here's what I did (wasn't about to give up!):

Checked box 443 AND accept ALL certificates. IT guy said "only check box 443."

Changed ONE letter to caps in my company's name. IT guy said "caps not necessary."

Typed entire string: Companyname\firstlast (with caps, no dots--again IT said not necessary!) and voila - ACCESS GRANTED.

Will have to have a chat with said IT guy Monday. Thanks for letting me rant...happy camper now...all systems go. :)

Not having one of these I am not sure of the menus but the following is from the Vodafone website which might help its for a G300 not a Y300 but I would have thought that this would work cross models

Huawei Ascend G300 - Set up your phone for Exchange email -...

Follow these instructions to set up your phone for Exchange email.

? Press New APN.
3. Enter data connection name
?Press Name.
? Key in Vodafone Mail and press OK.
4. Enter APN
?Press APN.
? Key in live.vodafone.com and press OK.

An APN is used to create a data connection.
5. Enter country code
?Press MCC.
? Key in 272 and press OK.
6. Enter network code
?Press MNC.

Hi everyone,

All I know is this. Ever since I installed Kit Kat on my Nexus 7 (2012 version), I have had trouble syncing with my Microsoft Outlook Exchange.

I really enjoy my tablet, and I have recommended it to anyone who asks about it. And I have never had trouble with any system upgrade before. But this one has caused me trouble.

I politely call upon Google to fix this issue.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi everyone,

Well, I have now done much research on this question, and a few things seem to have helped. Please note, I got these suggestions from a contributor in some other forum, and as to which one, I have lost track.

One thing to do is to stop syncing contacts. Of course, it would be nice to be able to sync e-mail, contacts, and calendar. Usually, however, the least important is contacts. And the second thing that was suggested was to change the sync frequency from "push" to "every five minutes."

Things seem to be much better now.

Of course, I would like a complete fix to KitKat, and I am still waiting for that.

Anyway, I wanted to share information with people as to what helped me.

On my generic tablet android 4.2.2, activesync was disabled, enabling it, and verifying settings did the trick, thank you.

Your IT guy was right. Unless your crap phone app programmed in some unnecessary restrictions. Its been that way since NT. Cant blame him. More likely, you fat fingered it the first ten times.
