My impression and the data backs it up. The below numbers are from Androbench history. Mine is a 16GB about 45% full.

Android 4.2.2 4.3

Seq Rd 24.7 mb/s 24.6
Seq wr 10.92 10.02
Rnd Rd 1796 1855
Rnd wr 116 32.48

Browser 164 ms 1150
Market 273 ms 1263

Especially poor are the the random write and the browser & market numbers.
I have let the tablet sit idle to (supposedly) fix the fstrim but no improvement yet.
Lots of talk about how 4.3 is supposed to improve performance but is it just talk?

Anybody else have comparison numbers from Androbench??

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

For me it feels faster, but it could just be temporary... This tablet sometimes is slow and other times its fast.... I did the upgrade through the regular method..... Checked for an update, it found it, and then downloaded and installed.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

Mine is definitely struggling after the update. It takes 20 to 30 seconds for pinterest to load. This is why I am hesitant to buy a nexus 7 2. Specs are great but functionality is more important. Wanting to upgrade your tablet after a year is one thing but being forced to because of performance issues is another.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

If you're worried about the new Nexus 7, don't be. Android 4.3 added a new feature which, under certain circumstances, deletes old blocks of data that were supposedly "deleted".

More Info: Google Quietly Added Built-In TRIM Support In Android 4.3 – Should Fix Most Storage-Related Device Slowdowns

That is all "happy marketing talk" until before/after performance numbers are shown.

Anybody do the numbers as in op?

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

seq read is 33.62 MB /s
write 10.94

my random write is worse than yours at .31MB/s that is POINT 31 MB/s no wonder my tablet feels like CRAP.
browser is 154.5
market 289.5

EVERY FRICKING ITEM IN THE TEST INDICATES THAT MY CRAPPY N7 IS THE SLOWEST SLUG OF ALL OF THE DEVICES LISTED IN THAT APP FOR BENCHMARKING COMPARISONS. I guess my perception of it being glacially slow is based in fact rather than opinion.

the second time i rand androbench it stopped. third time, it's running...thank you google for screwing up my N7 even more than it was on 4.2.2. this time the numbers are even more dismally slow than the few I quoted up above.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

My nexus 7 had no issues whatsoever. Then yesterday i get an alert to update, thinking new version new features. Big mistake, after 4.3 update my nexus 7 keeps freezing up and takes forever to load home screens, load app list, and chrome browser etc etc. WTF was this update supposed to fix? I cant even use the damn thing to post. Im sending this on my iphone. WTF google!

Mine got noticeably better after 4.3.

Have you guys tried clearing the cache, or worst case, factory reset?

Yea I have to second that. My N7 has gotten new life breathed into it ever since the update, hence why I'm waiting for next year to upgrade to the third generation version.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

Definitely picked up "lag" since the update in various areas; browsing, screen loading, keypad transition...
Wanted to try 4.3 to see what was new and if there were any significant improvements for how I use the N7.
Was 4.2 rooted, etc. and was very happy with the performance. May root the 4.3 or go back to rooted 4.2.
Great that we have all of these options to make our N7's what we want them to be :)

Just the opposite for me......After the update my N7 seems quite a bit faster, and the battery life has definitely improved.....But I must say that I was one of the lucky ones that never saw the lag before the update.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

Might be solved. I let it sit with the screen off for ~15 hours & ran Androbench and this is what I got
Seq Rd 21 mb/s
Seq wr 10.2
Rnd Rd 1878
Rnd wr 132
Browser 144
market 246

So now most measurement are as good or better than 4.2.2. Guess the fstrim does work over time. Androbench runs noticeably faster.
I'll check tomorrow & repost and hopefully close thread.

lucky you. I've let mine stay on for at least a day and it's still as slow as a slug (and I HAVE done both a partition cache clear, as well as having run Forever Gone). My N7 SUCKS. it's going to be someone else's problem soon, I hope. likely put it up for sale today or tomorrow. I just offloaded anything I want to save. then it gets a Factory Reset. then I'll take pics of the leather case and the N7 and off to Craigslist I go. Had I known how much trouble this tablet would have, I never would have bought it. FYI, just ran androbench and the random write speed is .04MB/s. stinky pile of dog doo!

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

To all you guys who mistakenly think a Factory Reset is a cure all, I'm here to tell you that you are all wet. After a FR, I still get random write speeds in Androbench of .48MB/s or 123.13 IOPS. that's so slow it has an no visible orange bar in the ranking screen for that test. Like I said, my N7 is a turd.

Not a problem here with my N7... I was one of the lucky ones, that never had a major lag running 4.2.2. But now that I've updated to 4.3 I definitely notice my N7 being a little snappier! Also I notice a significant increase in battery life.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

My N7 has always run just fine since I got it for Christmas. And it seems to be a bit smoother since the update a few days ago. But instead of better battery life mine has gone in the other direction. The battery just nose dives as I use it now. I have done the system cache wipe but still the same battery drain. Will probably do at factory reset tomorrow after work.

Re: N7 SLOWER After 4.3 Download

Well here are the latest numbers after letting it sit again overnight.
7/31 8/1
Seq Rd 21 mb/s 24
Seq wr 10.2 11.7
Rnd Rd 1878 1816
Rnd wr 132 132
Browser 144 141
Market 246 254

About the same as yesterday BUT much improved over 2 days ago. and slightly better than 4.2.2
The battery was at 98% after sitting all night with the wifi off. So that appears better with 4.3.

I consider the issue solved for me. Hope it works for others.

For reference my Antutu is 12727.
