Google Play Services battery drain solutions?

I'm on 5.1.1 and I'm averaging 15-20% of my battery drain being attributed to Google Play Services. I know from other devices that 3-5% is 'working properly' so I know there's an issue here but I can't nail down a fix anywhere that doesn't involve root. I've already taken the steps of factory resets and cache wipes and neither have resolved it. I don't have Google Now voice set to activate from any screen, I don't have apps set to auto update. Need a definitive no root solution to this if such a thing even exists at this time.
