You don’t even need to transfer. Google attaches the warranty to the phone and not the person in my experience. I had a problem with a pixel 1 I bought used and they had zero problems taking it from me.

Google's phone warranty policy

Google warrants that a new Phone and its included accessories will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use in accordance with Google’s published user documentation for two years for the phone and one year for accessories from the date of original retail purchase in its original packaging by you.

Not a lawyer here, but wouldn't the modifier "by you' at the end of that warranty statement make that a qualification requirement - if it wasn't purchased by you, it isn't warrantied?

This isn't to say that they haven't and wouldn't cover a device for 1 year, but rather that one might not have a legitimate reason to complain if they didn't, if it was picked up secondhand.
