    Hey everyone,

Was curious if you could help me out with something. My friend got a P3XL last week and toward the end if the week she started to get pop up ads and Google assistant would be with it. Only way for her to get rid of it is to close the add out by hitting the "X". What would this be and is there anyway to turn it off? She said it's very annoying and pops up multiple times a day.

For some reason it won't let me add a picture. So if anyone can help me with that, I do have a pic to show you what in talking about.

    Thanks

That type of behavior is 99% of the time associated with an app. Probably something they recently downloaded. That will need to be uninstalled for it to stop.

Oh yea...never even gave that a thought. Is there anyway to find out what app it's from? I'll ask her what apps she has recently downloaded. Thanks for the help.

You could probably use the Notification Log to track down the culprit but it should be pretty straightforward to find the crapware that's displaying these ads - just look at the Description in the Google Play Store. Or uninstall them in reverse order.

Hey everyone, just talked to my friend. She said she deleted everything from the play store that wasn't on the phone and the problem is still there. Pip up changed pictures and is still there. Anything else it could be or what else can she do?

She could factory reset the phone to wipe everything and start over. Then install apps one-by-one to see if a culprit can be found.

I mean, it's definitely something that's been downloaded. That type of behaviour is not native to the device. Have them check her apps list, not just the icons in the app drawer.

Also, see if this guide can help her to identify which app is pushing those popups.

It could help if you manage to post a screenshot with that popup. What are you using to access the forums, the site from a browser or any app?

Just have her reboot into Safe mode. If the problem goes away then it's something she installed.

Luke - just a thought, could you get your hands on the phone? 1st hand info MIGHT be more useful than 2nd hand info - no offense to either hand.

That's in Tapatalk settings. In the initial page, where the forums you follow are listed, tap on the person icon, settings and select night reading mode.

If you can't find this menu tap the back arrow top left.Pop up add w/ Google Assistant, HELP-img_20181208_160237.jpeg

Strange. I've double checked and didn't have any problem selecting from gallery or attachment.

I know it's very weird. No matter what I do or attach from whatever gallery it fails.

Tapatalk has problems sometimes with PNG files (screenshots). You could try using the Android Central Forums app and see if it works. This is my favourite app for the forum.

Has your friend gone into settings, apps, chrome, and cleared the cache?
First, though, you might want to open the chrome browser and see if she has any tabs open that might have a spammy ad in it. Make sure all tabs in chrome are closed.
