I am an owner of pixel 6 from March. In this one month I encountered a lot of problems with battery life, display issues and all my photos disappeared.

Battery life is really bad, I have to charge my phone every day without much use.

Display issues come forward unlocking the phone, the screen gets blurred and it stays like that for a minute; usually I have to lock it again to make this problem go away.

Notifications are sometimes a no-show, even though my settings are correct.

And for me the most terrifying issue happened a week ago, when I was checking my photos at my google photo app and there were no photos - the gallery was empty. I never backed up my data and I checked my Trash right away. The photos were not there either, I rushed and checked my Google account if they got back up somehow and erased from my phone. Nope, the photos are nowhere to be found. I tried updating the app, resetting my phone, putting my phone in safe mode,... The last resort supposedly is factory data reset, but I don't want to do that until I get my photos back.

I really cannot believe this happened on a new phone, that supposedly is really safe with new google technology and all.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I can understand the frustration. Did you setup the phone as new or restore from a previous device? Other than the Photos issue the other things you described can sometimes occur when setting up a phone and restoring apps & settings from a previous device.

Welcome to AC!
There has been a bug in the message app that causing a bad battery drain make sure your up to date and maybe turn permission off in message settings for allowing camera

Welcome to Android Central! I am so sorry that those issues happened -- especially the photos one! I can definitely understand your frustration. Have you checked Google Drive to ensure they didn't end up there?

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be clear -- you had a lot of photos saved locally on the phone, but didn't have Google Photos backup turned on? If you use a file manager app (like File by Google) and go to the /DCIM/Camera directory, do you see any photo files there?

There can be many possible reasons for poor battery life on any phone, not just this one. It'd help to see battery stats after you've charged it up to 100% and let it drain naturally down to about 20-30%, so we can get an idea of what's using the battery.

What's getting blurred when you unlock it -- the homescreen? Are you using a 3rd party launcher, or the stock Pixel Launcher?

Didn't think my issue was thread worthy but since this is a general thread, I'll just piggyback off of it

Unlocked 6P on Verizon with latest updates installed

Was just in Chicago over the weekend and right in the middle of downtown, my 5G speeds were ****. I was getting 5 down and it wouldn't register an upload and timed out. Did a small amount of research and opted to turn off 5G to LTE and all of the sudden, things are substantially better. Turned it off and on again multiple times and experienced the same issues.

What could possibly be causing this? Where can I complain to Google about it? My wife's S10 was getting better performance than my phone but obviously can't test 5G. I know this can be spotty but in the middle of Chicago in multiple places? Seems like it's not a 5G issue IMO but y'all know more than me about it

That kind of issue is almost always due to the network. It could be that 5G coverage in that area was poor, or that it was extremely congested. Or it could be that the phone was trying to use millimeter-wave 5G where you were, which can be superfast, but can also be blocked easily: https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/not-all-5g-is-the-same-all-the-flavors-and-names-explained/

Could you compare your phone's 5G reception with another one on Verizon at the very same moment at the same location?

Yeah, it's actually shocking how bad the Pixel 6 is... Even my Nexus 4 was more stable and bug free.

My two biggest complaints are subpar fingerprint reader (only works consistently in ideal situations like my office) and truly subpar connectivity issues over cellular. Much worse than my P4xl the 6 replaced in the same general locations. Both are really hardware issues.

I don't know if the 7 will fix those or if I'm willing to give Google another try, but one way or another, I will be replacing the P6 by December.

Oh I kinda can't wait for the P7/7P reviews. I haven't really experienced any connectivity issues, but this thing runs warm and sometimes straight up hot. And my favorite case only seems to insulate it.

I forget which update it was but my fingerprint scanner has been better since then. Still not holding a candle to my S21 Ultra though. A brighter screen would be nice but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes. Sitting at my desk at home (I work mostly from home) I have very few issues with the phone. WiFi connection is good. Perfect angles/skin moisture/lighting/?? for the fingerprint reader.

Then I go out into the world and the phone aggravates me like crazy. Can't get data in stores to be able to open wallet for membership cards. I was trying to do a mobile order at Chick-fil-A in a long drive-thru line and had to get out of line because i could not get the app to run. Jumped on their WiFi and it worked, but I hate using public WiFi's.

Podcasts skip and buffer like crazy on the same commute I've done for years without issue.

Fifty percent success rate with the fingerprint reader at best.

It is a very nice desktop computer, but as a phone, it leave me wanting. I've been on Nexus/Pixel phones since the Nexus 5 and always ordered at first availability, but I will be wary of the 7.

I have never used it.

Maybe the 7 will have face unlock and that will solve the issue. But they need a better modem even more than biometrics. It doesn't matter how I get into the phone if I'm losing signal.

Good info. Thank you.

I unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it lol) don't live in Chicago so I cannot test that and my wife doesn't have a 5G capable phone. I will need to think about this in the future if I come across the same issue. I will turn 5G back on for now and see how it goes
