Rooting the desire z

Hello,
I would like to know if i will loose anything (functionality or i don't know) by downgrading then rooting my 2.3.3 Desire Z (build 2.42.405), i do not intend for the moment to flash any custom rom, just want full permissions on my device to uninstall some forced apps like amazon, unlock the market and configure ES Task manager to deal with the processes.
If i downgrade and root, will i be able to get back to current build?

ever since i rooted mine and installed ics it has run miles better restarting the phone is a thing of the past, to answer your question 2.2 and 2.3 is mostly visual changes, once you have taken full control im sure it wont be long till you flashing some new rom's
