Getting Linux to recognize your phone.
This is a very simple process on Linux. You simply need to create a file with the udev rules in a particular location then give it the permissions to operate on Linux. If you don't know what that means, just follow the instructions.
1. We will be working in Terminal, so pull it up. (Ctrl+Alt+T)
2. Issue the command:
NOTE: If you get a "folder/file doesn't exist" error, issue the command
first without the quotes. Then reissue the command.
3. Enter your password (if you have one).
4. Paste this into the file:
Your file should look like this:
NOTE: Your file must look EXACTLY AS THE PICTURE. I say this because sometimes browsers don't display the characters correctly and you may end up with a " instead of a ". It may be hard to tell the difference between the two characters, but it makes a HUGE difference to Linux. That is why I included it.
5. Save it and Close it.
6. Issue the command:
7. REBOOT THE COMPUTER.

HOW TO GET S-OFF
1. Go to Revolutionary and select Linux as your PC type... This will start the download of the Revolutionary.zip (keep this site up as we will need it later.
2. Go into your "Download" folder and right click the file and select "Extract Here". You can extract to any folder, but for these instructions, I am using this folder.
3. Boot up your 3D and make sure USB Debugging is ON. Now you can connect your 3D via USB. Make sure its in Charge Only Mode.
4 & 5. (picture below) Back in Terminal, issue:
NOTE: make sure the "D" is capitalized. Again, this makes a difference to Linux. Just remember Linux is case sensitive and you'll be fine.
Now issue the command:
6. It will prompt you for your beta key. Your serial number is listed at the red line to the left and the HBOOT is listed as shooter- above. Enter this info on the Revolutionary site that we kept up earlier. Enter the beta key to the right. (picture below)
7. Once this is done it will go thru automated scripts and reboot your phone about 3-4 times before you finally are done. (picture below)
SIMPLE AS THAT! CONGRATS! YOU ARE NOW S-OFF! (and custom recovery if you chose yes at the end)
