Please help to return to Android Froyo from Gingerbread for htc Evo

Hello,

I'm a newcomer and interested to root my htc Evo. However, I happen to update the software (v. 2.3.3) last Saturday, and I read a few threads saying that there is no way to root the phone after updating to Gingerbread.

I'd like to get some information to:
- To return the software back to the original
- To root the phone

This thread will prob be closed just fyi. There is no way as of yet to do either of your requests. Read the threads already posted and you will see that its not an option. It's only a matter of time. I as well am stuck on new GB.

If you are rooted then yes you can. Just flash a froyo rom.

Were you rooted then updated to gingerbread? If so are you sure you still have root?

I was rooted with froyo, then updated with the rooted gingerbread. This morning I was able to restore to froyo with a nandroid backup made prior to the upgrade.
