HTC Droid Incredible vs Evo screen
- EVO screen: 4.3” WVGA (800x480) 65K colors
Incredible: 3.7" WVGA (480 X 800) 65K colors
Based on the specs above, I'm guessing the Incredibles screen will be little crisper looking.05-15-2010 03:03 PMLike 0 - Correct, the Incredible has a higher pixel density (slight when you do the math.) But just to akin to HDTVs you don't need to sit as close to a 50 inch monitor as you would a 32.
Also there's the different screen types, AMOLED (Inc.) vs TFT LCD (Evo). Both have pros and cons.05-15-2010 03:11 PMLike 0 -
I work with three people that have these phones. 2 have the incredible, and one has the pre-tmobile version of the HD2. We set them side by side to perform a very basic and unscientific comparison. Both screens looked about the same, but the incredible was a little more vivid and bright looking(almost inaccurate looking) The HD2 looked a little more accurate. As for the text, i couldnt really see much of difference at a glance which is surprising because the resolutions are similar, with the Hd2 being much larger. But the fact that the HD2's screen was substantially bigger overwhelmed the comparison. It is just a gorgeous screen, even compared to the incredible05-15-2010 03:11 PMLike 0 -

- It's something you might notice at first, but you'll adjust to it quickly. My Droid arguably had a sharper more vibrant screen than my Incredible does. However after using the Incredible for a few days, all I see is beauty. Like everyone else is saying, you are really going to love this phone.05-15-2010 03:27 PMLike 0

- Here's an interesting write-up on the Nexus One screen (same as the Incredible):
Secrets of the Nexus One's screen: science, color, and hacks
In reality the AMOLED tech used on the N1 and Incredible is inferior in a number of ways to the LCD on the EVO. In other words, I wouldn't feel too bad about the EVO screen not being AMOLED.Rizop likes this.05-15-2010 03:44 PMLike 1 - Here's an interesting write-up on the Nexus One screen (same as the Incredible):

My cousin has the droid, and now that you mention it...that screen seemed to be VERY sharp and crisp looking. Probably due to the extra resolution boost. TFT lcd seems to be a pretty mature technology, so i think most ppl will hopefully be satisfied05-15-2010 04:33 PMLike 0
- here's my thing i like the incredible screen its gorgeous but when i get outside i can hardly see the screen and i live in sunny San Diego Ca so its always bright outside but i seen the tft and the amoled side by side and the amoled was crisp and really bright the looked washed out so i was just wonder if the evo will look washed out.05-15-2010 09:47 PMLike 0

- If the EVO has the same screen as the HD2, then i hope this helps:

It's the same size but perhaps it was upgraded.05-16-2010 11:06 AMLike 0
- I want the larger screen so when in portrait mode, I might be able to use the keyboard with my thumb.
My Droid, and now Incredible are too narrow and my thumb is hitting the wrong keys all the time.05-17-2010 01:27 PMLike 0 - I had a VZW rep take me outside with a moto droid and an Inc, and the Inc had a usable screen (although I believe it had an anti-glare screen protector). They key to outside is to have a bright background. I think we need an app that uses the light sensor to adapt the background on the phone, this would be a big help.
That said, I'm still getting the EVO instead, well engineered old tech generally beats first gen tech.05-17-2010 01:36 PMLike 0 - I really wonder why the Evo and Incredible have 16bit screens. I would have paid a bit extra for the 24bit screen.05-17-2010 04:52 PMLike 0
