I like Google Nav way better than Sprint Nav and I wanna take it off and hopefully open up some app space. Can I take it off without Rooting?

Root by following the instructions over in the hacks forum, then remove bloatware by following my instructions in the hacks forum.

I hate all those pre-installed apps

I wish them so you would have to root your phone to remove them.

That's pretty crappy

So does this include the nascar and football apps? and the news and stocks?

I want all of them gone, but I don't want to root my phone at this time :(

I don't mind them. I just don't like Nascar/Football.
Sprint Nav is actually quite useful because it's powered by TeleNav.

But some people actually find the Football app useful.

I think you have to be fully rooted though.
I don't even think you can remove them with SuperUser Permissions only.

I just don't use them. I too prefer the Google navigator over Telenav, but I have st the phone up so that when I ask for directions, it uses the Google app instead. As far as the other bloatware, I don't mind them so much. Sprint isn't as bad as other carriers when it comes to that stuff. Verizon is pretty bad with the bloatware, but AT&T is the worst. Too bad that it isn't like a blackberry where you can hide the apps. Or put them into a junk folder.

I just don't like having something that's nascar on my phone

it just...cheapens it lol

also, wtf@putting something(nascar, pro wrestling, hanna montana whatever it may be) on the phone and then NOT LETTING YOU TAKE IT OFF

kind of ridiculous to me

someone will look through my phone like, "nascar eh? and you said you weren't a fan lol"

me: "they put that on there and won't let me take it off! seriously!"

Heh I live 2 minutes from a nascar track... unfortunately.
But it says "Nascar Sprint Cup"... kind of obvious that it was put on there for good.

Anyway, root seems to be the only way. There are guides here and at XDA.

Guess to me this isn't a big deal. With Froyo, you apparently can install apps directly to your memory card, so space really isn't a big deal in the long run.

It's not "app space". System applications are not installed in the same file system as user applications.

You won't gain anything.

I was able to at least uninstall the update it had on the Sprint Nav, so that was a good 7mb it removed. And I know Sprint Nav with TeleNav but Google Nav is so damn sexy and has MUCH better features....and it's still in Beta so I can only imagine how the finished product will be!
