HTC One: 4.4 KitKat lockscreen widgets

I recently upgraded my HTC one to 4.4 and I noticed that I'm unable to add widgets to the lockscreen even though this was a selling point of the update. Is there anything you guys have done to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On your lock screen , you should see two small arrows in the upper right section. If you slide that area from right to left, you should get a screen with a button that has a plus sign on it.

If you tap that, you should be able to add widgets from there. No lie this helps!
