HTC says "Squeeze for the Brilliant U" - so how would you use it and what would you squeeze your U for?

Launching camera? Taking a screenshot? Launching Google Assistant?

I saw a list on XDA the other day of things that it would control. I will see if I can find it for you.

Ok this is what I found. I have no idea if this is correct or if there may be more functions.

Looks like are 9 preset HTC U side features:

1. start the camera application
2. Google Voice Assistant
3. Home Companion HTC Sense
4. Screenshot
5. flashlight
6. recording
7. screen rotation lock
8. start app
9. Turn on/off the Wi-Fi

That list makes me shrug so hard I might dislocate my shoulder. "Start app" is probably the saviour there.

But I'm sure that ROM developers will have fun adding some better functionality.

I'm hoping you can do more than just squeeze it for one boring action. Hopefully you can swipe along the sides too and e.g. toggle through options, like on that video.

Squeeze for camera launch might be convenient. I might start off with that.

This feature seems to be getting some interesting feedback. Some around here don't think it's really useful and is somewhat of a gimmick; whereas others are ecstatic about it. I am definitely in the latter camp.

My Honor 8's fingerprint scanner "button" has a similar feature to the squeeze in the U: I use it for opening my text messages app. So I'd probably use it for that. However, I find that I'm almost always scrambling to open my camera app, so maybe that would also be something I'd use squeeze for.

I'm sure that it will be able to control more than what's on that list. Even htc's own U11 landing page says it can control the Alexa and text messaging apps which aren't on it. Also, in one of the hands on videos someone said that 3rd party app developers will be given access to code for its use. I can't remember which video I saw that on though. I've watched so many over the past couple of days. So maybe if we bug our favorite app makers enough they will include edge sense in an update!

Update* it was the tech radar video. Here is a YouTube link

Initially, I will launch Google assistant. Then I can use voice commands to turn on/off flashlight, open chrome, launch camera, call family members, etc. OK google does a lot more than Siri does.
