Dropped/rejected calls

About 60% of the time I swipe to answer a call, get the usual screen you see when you're talking to someone, but the call immediately drops without any time for conversation. In the call log these calls all show with a red arrow bent at a 90-degree angle, which I'm told means that I somehow rejected the call myself. I wish I could find a way to answer the phone without swiping. I've tried apps that are supposed to allow you to shake the phone to answer and apps that are supposed to make a small "answer" button appear instead of the swipe, but none of them have worked. Wi-fi calling isn't very good quality. The thing where you just pick up the phone and hold it to your ear to answer doesn't work consistently for me either. Any suggestions? We only have a 2G signal at our house, but we have plenty of bars, and hubs i-phone has no problems like this. I just have a feeling it's this swipe thing that is doing it. Does anyone have a way to get around the swipe-to-answer function?:'(

I'm not sure you're actually rejecting the call--it sounds more like the call is being dropped, which I would discuss with your carrier instead. If you rejected the call, the regular call screen shouldn't be seen at all. Rejecting a call is usually swiping in the completely opposite direction as accepting the call, so it's fairly difficult to accidentally swipe the wrong way.
