No notification on lock screen

Hi all. I am setting up my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, One UI v 8.0, Android v 16. With my prior phones, a small colored dot would appear on the lock screen (folded) when I had a message or alert. I no longer get that visual indicator for a message or alert. My lock screen is set to AOD (Always on display). Settings/notifications/appearance/lock screen is set to SHow Notifications, Card style.
I use Chomp for my messaging app. Setting/notifications/App notifications/Chomp is set to Allow notifications/Sound and vibration/Lock screen, app icon badge, notification popup. Show or hide content when locked is set to Show always. I don't see anything specific for the lock screen "dot" notifier (sorry, not sure what it's called) visual alert.
If I miss the vibration, I don't know if I have a message, email, ebay alert, etc-- apps that I would always get that lock screen visual reminder for.
Any idea how to get that little visual reminder back on my lock screen?

Have you set the AOD to be on Always? (If you set it to tap to show, for instance, it'll stay off until you tap and will show the widgets directly). The cover screen main widget page, however, does show an orange dot on the left if you have new notifications (or you can add a widget for notification count/type).

Yes, I did set it as AOD. And I said lock screen-- I think I misspoke-- it's when the phone is locked and folded. I want the visual notification to appear on the phone when it's locked and folded. Thank you

Depending on the home card, the clock and data that appears there will vary, but if you have a notification widget in the card, a notification icon will show up in AOD. If you have the 'basic' card with just a clock, then the clock will show with an orange dot on the left side of the screen when you get a new notification.

Settings/Lock screen and AOD/Always On Display. Toggle set to ON, and 'When to show' set to Always or For new notifications.

navigate to Settings > Cover screen > Notifications and ensure "Show notifications" is toggled

If that option is set to 'Tap to show', then AOD won't work as such on the coverscreen as tapping it will just take you to your home card (which, granted, should still show either a notification counter if you have that widget on it, or an orange dot on the left if you don't).

Both how Notifications and Show even when screen is off, are toggled to yes

The "when to show" option is set to Always.

That's weird. No orange dot or clock on the cover screen? Is there anything blocking the light sensor (i.e. a case)? Are you certain no modes/routines or Battery Saver aren't disabling AOD?
