Which sim cards work / what plans FOR DATA are working?

I know some people are using T-mobile but i am not having any luck with them, even after IMEI changes.

ATT is way too expensive for what i need.

What i am looking for is like 99% Data and like 1% talk and text. since everything i do is over the internet, thats what i need to focus on with the VERY occasional call to say hi to my folks or something for 30 seconds.

i cant find much information on Truphone.

but i am dying to hear what people are using without issues other than t-mobile-sprint-att etc..

....I cant find much information on Truphone.....

Truphone is an international provider. Their SIM operates in many countries. In the US it operates on both the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. For US calls/texts/data( MB ) are 9 cents with incoming calls/texts free. If you use a lot of data it could add up, $9 for every 100MB. It just depends on how much you use. https://www.truphone.com/us/consumer/sim/

Other than AT&T, T-Mobile and Truphone, I haven't seen other services mentioned in the US for the LGU2. I tried Ting and H20 before Truphone but couldn't get the data to work because the APN settings didn't import correctly and there was no way to edit them.

I am actually talking to truphone people as we speak. did you have to do anything to get it to work? or did you just stick it in and bam, cellular internet? keep in mind i will be using this as standalone without a phone near me. or on.

I did have difficulty getting texts to work at first because of an issue with their 'local partner' in my area, but their CS was great and they eventually fixed it. I don't think others had this issue. I just had bad luck. It's worked great since then (last 3 months). It always connects quickly when I activate cellular service. The data always worked. I always pair mine to my phone through cellular data when I leave the phone behind so I still get notifications and don't lose the 'OK Google' functions.

ok i will give it a try. they say if it doesnt work i can get my money back. as long as i can use maps / ok google i should be fine.

I know I am few other people have said this....

Your Android phone doesn't need to be on you but your Android phone needs to be on and connected to a data source. Or else you can't use ok google and maps might not be fully functional.

And even though I do not think you will be able to rack up a lot of data due to the limited apps you can use with Android wear, I'd be careful with pay as you go plans.

IMO, tmobile probably has the most affordable plans for high data users. I know you haven't had luck with it but if somehow you can get the prepaid $30 Walmart tmobile card that has 5gbs of High speed with unlimited text and only 100 mins of talk time to work on your watch, that should definitely cover you. That was the route I was going to go if I couldn't activate my watch on the wearable plan.

I plan to use the heck out of data if and when Android wear gets a decent music streaming app. So that's why I'm sticking with tmobile. If not, I would have definitely tried truphone too. I've only had this watch for 3 weeks and Ive used about 40 mbs which is still a little bit cheaper than the 15 I'm paying right now.

Playing with the IMEI might prevent the phone from connecting to the network. (An invalid IMEI, or one already connected to the network, will do that.)

W/r/t being careful with pay as you go plans... fortunately the watch has a data limiting feature, under Settings/Cellular/Data usage. You can select a " Data limit" as low as 50 MB, and also set a "Warning level" as low as "50 MB".

Does a Cricket SIM work in this watch?
Has not yet been tried, to my knowledge, but I was thinking to go that route when there are music streaming apps with standalone support for AW.

I've been using Truephone for a few weeks and I did have to call customer service because I was not getting data when I first inserted the sim card. Turns out it just took a bit longer for data to show as working, no action needed on their or my end. It just popped up while I was talking to them.

Yes I believe to have full OK Google functions, you need to be paired to your phone through BT, Wi-Fi or Cell data. So you can leave the phone behind, just leave it turned on and connected to data through mobile or Wi-Fi. If this isn't correct for the new version, someone correct me.

ok, i just bought a s7 edge, so i guess i will try this. i will leave the phone at home Via Wi fi, and take the watch with me elsewhere to test it.

I can confirm that OK Google works as long as your phone has wifi connected. I don't have a sim in my phone and I can still use OK Google to make calls on my watch with no issues. However, sending a text with OK Google doesn't work as it tries to send via the phone, which has no number or cell connectivity...

I can confirm getting HSPA service via T Mobile in Los Angeles and North Orange County areas.

What plan, and did you have to get an engineer to add your Urbane's IMEI? T-Mobile website says that wearable plan is only for gear s2 LTE right now.

I had a good CS person and they added my IMEI and the rep in the store was very cooperative.
Could not get it to work, no matter what they did.
I'm using a pay as you go SIM for emergency connectivity only.

To those that are curious, I am not using a 'wearables' T-Mobile plan with my AT&T version of Urbane LTE. My sim card has a regular mobile phone plan attached to it that is a $10 add on. I will try to switch it to a 'wearable' plan with T-Mobile soon and report back how it goes.

I have also had really good coverage where ever I have been with the watch. It is ironic since I have had to occasionally call people back on my watch when my mobile phone has had spotty coverage.

Don't bother trying to get a wearable plan.
