Would you mind explaining what this is exactly?

So I sold my HTC One. I factory reset, and formatted all my data which left the phone without any OS. To make things worse Android File Transfer won't recognize the phone while I'm on bootloader. Any ideas on what I can do or is there no hope for it?

Is it me or has the battery life gotten worse as the phone has gotten older. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Google Play Services is necessary function of Android. From what I here though it used to take up much more battery life until Google updated it to consume less battery.
