Damn dude. You don't have to threaten to us about switching to iPhone, we don't care if you switch. Have you tried clearing cache and other settings like posted above? That resolved it for me.

I am needing to unroot so I can get my phone to be compliant with my work email/mobile iron. Is it possible to root, then unroot but retain a couple file changes? Or does re-rooting cause a wipe of the file system? I am running a nexus 6 unencrypted.

I would not say horrible, but it would be nice if you could disable it. It seems to be part of alarms, speaker (phone calls), and sometimes, at random, text messages are quiet then burst to loud. It's odd.

ehh, I am done with IOS, had ios phones as my main since the original. Enjoying android a bit...I may go back to my nexus 5 though.

Yup, this is where I hate it most. Sometimes it's just straight quiet to loud, sometimes it's gradual.

Re: nexus 6 - upgrade to 4.01 without losing deencrption? I didn't think I noticed any lag with encryption either, then I de-encrypted it and it was pretty obvious to me. Doing anything was substantially faster, the animations were snappier, no lag, switching/openings apps is noticible faster...

any chance you could go to security and see if you can decrypt? I was curious about that. I am de-exncrypted already, so wondering if they included that option or something.

is it possible to get rid of it? I get some crackling with some audio files I got from zedge when they're really low, it's lame! I would rather have it the audio I set it up, not the gradual quiet to loud thing it keeps trying to do for everything. Examples are when I try to use speaker phone...
