Because the update only works on stock 1.4.26 firmware (reportly a rooted 1.4.26 updates ok). But if you have a different ROM (such as Gingerblur) or 1.4.52 or 1.4.51 leaked images, then it won't work. You need to flash back to 1.4.26 before it upgrades to 1.4.57.

I don't agree with this... You might brick the device but not being able to ever use a battery again is not it.

Yes, E=Edge, H=3G. On my phone, I"ve never seen the E unless I forced the phone into 2G.

Atrix user here, but landed in this page from Google! :) Same problem and found a better solution. Download DWP Contact Group Manager. That application allows you to add/change/remove! groups. Worked perfectly for me... My orphan groups where on Exchange of course. Android Market Link...

I suspect that it would not be a problem, but couldn't tell you. I was in Spain last week, and no issues either. There I did get an Orange MIFI to use as a WIFI router for the phone. Worked great! The company provided the MIFI so not sure how much it costs though.

I was in Tokyo and Hong Kong at the end of February. In Tokyo, the Atrix worked on Softbank's 3G network. In Hong Kong, you have a choice of 3G providers, all of which worked for me: Smartone, Peoples, 3/Hunchingson, and others. FYI, i only used voice and SMS; too expensive to data roam ! :)
