For what it's worth, according to google chat it's up to the developers to update apps to 7.1.1 capable. I really only need my text message app to show icon notifications, using Verizon message + currently

Why with the pixel does the email and or text message show up in notifications bar and not on icon also? Super handy if you clear notifications by accident, still have it show on top of icon!!...
