A hypothetical question regarding future versions of ICS for GN

Re: A hypothetical question regarding future versions of ICS for Try Franco's kernel in the mean time. For me, UGLC1 RIL/baseband + Franco kernel fixed the data drops.

    Rooting my Nexus

Good choice! Don't be afraid to try out one of Franco's nightlies if you get curious.

You guys tried S Voice yet?

It's nothing special. S-Voice can't even recognize its wakeup command when it's running in the background! That's something I really appreciate with Jarvis and EVA: I can stick my phone in its dock, have Tasker auto-launch one of those apps in the background, and display the clock.

    Finally got one!

Welcome back, brother! ;) There's a lot you can do to get the most of your battery life. AOKP, or ROMs based on it, include a tool like Juice Defender that you can use to turn off data when the screen is off or just drop it down to EDGE. I have to say that my battery life has been much, much...

    GNex Battery Life with GSM

If battery life is a problem for your GNex, you need to flash ogdobber's Jame Bond kernel. Its power savings dwarfs everything else I've tried.

Flashing, a Gnex, Basebands, and YOU

The XDA thread recommends following the instructions on this page of the CM wiki if you have SMS problems. Beyond that, I couldn't say. My phone works well with UGLC1. EDIT: You could also try flashing a different baseband. The XDA baseband thread has a bunch of them available, and some of...

Flashing, a Gnex, Basebands, and YOU

Yes, the XXLA2 baseband is meant for Europe. I didn't have very good reception with it, so I flashed the UGLC1 radio using ClockworkMod Recovery because that's the most current one meant for North America. I'm in the States, but I assume it would work just as well for you in Canada. If you want...

Not off to a great start

Flashing a baseband can be easily undone if you need to send a phone in for service, just like you can unroot it, re-lock it, and get it back to the stock ROM.

    Is GS2 better than a Nexus ?

I can't comment on the problems you're having with the S2, but the Nexus is a great value. $400 gets you direct support from Google, a nice selection of high-end features like 720p screen and software-based buttons, and the ability to go to any GSM carrier. In all, I think the Nexus is less...

Not off to a great start

The phone switches from H to 3G when you aren't actively using your data connection to conserve battery life. Basically, when you see "3G" you actually have an HSPA+ connection. Have you tried flashing a different baseband? Mine came with XXLA2. After I flashed UGLC1, my signal strength...
