Another auto rotate broken thread (after 6.01 update)

Haven't tried the wipe cache partition, though did do a factory reset. Not seeing what a cache would have to do with this when sensors aren't recognized. I'll have to review how to do this, then see if it's worth going through another reset. Still not keen on ripping the back off this as I don't...

Another auto rotate broken thread (after 6.01 update)

I've had some problems off and on and constantly had to reboot for auto-rotate to work. After the last Android, it completely stopped working. Don't know if the update was related or not. The Check my Android app shows sensors 1,5, and 7 non-functional. I've tried about else turned up by Google...

Official Google Announcement: No Android 6 Marshmallow for the Nexus 4

Just saw this how-to How to install Android 6.0 on Your Nexus 4.

It's the Sleep of Death. You can Google it. Happens frequently to both N4's in my household.

Choosing the Nexus 5X over the Nexus 6P

Re: 5X vs 6P Value Proposition (Price Difference) Pricing structure is everything. My guess, a significant number of buyers will opt for the 6p over 5X based mostly upon bang-per-buck. Personally, as an N4 owner I hope this leads to an oversupply of the 5x, and subsequent price drop for me...

Why Google and the 5x is awesome!

Agreed. I'm ready for the 5x 32gb, but the price needs to drop $100 or so before I'm pulling the out the plastic. If they'd put the 6p in the footprint of a 5x, I'd be there now.

    Random shutdowns - something new

My sig-other says her N4 was acting in similar way (abrupt) a few weeks ago, but only when inactive. Seemed a little stubborn to restart, as well, once when I looked at it, and left me wondering if it's an actual shut-down or maybe loss of screen. I cleared out the active app cache and...

Are you going to buy a Nexus 6?

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying? Looks like I'm still using the N4 another year. Too $$$ and too big for my needs.

3 weeks without rebooting, that is a record for me.

My stock N7 reboots most every day, often multiple times a day. If anything, it's much worse since I installed 4.4.4. Can occur with any app I use, be it native Google or 3rd party. Anyone who's experienced similar unacceptable behavior have a suggestion beyond a factory refresh?

Help! Battery drain fast since Android updates

I've deleted this and that cache, then rebooting, and still massive battery drain with Google Play Services and Android System at the top of the battery consumption list. Anyone have another suggestion on things to try?

Help! Battery drain fast since Android updates

My N4 is stock, non-rooted. I don't have a ton of apps installed. It was working fine before the 4.4.3 and .4.4.4 updates, and now it's draining pretty darn quick, even while sleep and idled. Google Play Services and Android System are listed at the top of most consuming apps. How do I fix...

    Battery drain after 4.4.3 update

I'm seeing a lot more drain, too. On 4.4.4. OP: Could you elaborate on what you did to delete the cache? I don't see the means any longer in 4.4.4 to sign in/out of Google Account. Where is it gone?

    Is encryption worth it?

I used the Android-provided encryption on my N4 last month. I was feeling a little paranoid about losing my phone and the personal info accessible from the phone. I can't tell it runs any slower. Here's what I absolutely do not like about it: * The same key is used on start-up and waking from...

    Camera focusing

Seems like a third of the pics I take with this camera are out of focus. I consciously try and focus by tapping the screen on the subject(s), but it seems hit or miss. Anyone care to share some tips for taking better pics with the N4?

    AIO Wireless new plan

I noticed AIO tweaked their wireless plan a bit. You also get another $5 off for using a prepaid account. I 'm using GoPhone (prepaid) now (65$ with taxes and fees) for 2 gb, which I hardly touch. I can get same plan save $20 a month. I realize there's a proxy server and throttling involved...
