That's a feature. I think it's great. If I want to get rid of the badges I just clear the taskbar. Otherwise I just leave the taskbar alone and the badges are left to remind me of the notifications. I makes perfect sense....at least to me.
So now it seems to be working properly. A call came in and displayed on the screen. When the call ended Google Maps redisplayed as expected. Maybe a Google Maps update corrected the problem. Go figure.
I have my phone connected to my car's Bluetooth. If I have Google Maps running an incoming call opens and displays the phone app that overrides Google Maps display. When the call ends the phone app remains on the screen and Google Maps remains running in the background with verbal instructions...
Did anyone else get this update? It looks like it was focused on the camera. It was about 560MB. I don't use the camera much so it's not important to me.
There are a number of reviews out there so I won't go into it other than saying I find the phone a lot smoother with no noticeable hit to the battery life. The rest is incidental.
