yes screen on time is 4 hrs. while using simple apps like whatsapp, kindle. with 20% brightness

i agree but i only app i used was kindle for reading books that too at only 25-30% brightness. Is 4 hr screen on time for such moderate use normal for S3? and also the sudden dip in charge for such app is okay?

no, i havent installed any launcher. what could be the reason for screen consuming so much of battery?
